No more Google Apps Standard Free Edition. What now?

Google has recently announced some changes to Google Apps for businesses. Now they offer Google Apps for Business including 99.9% uptime guarantee, a 25GB inbox and 24/7 phone support for any issue for only $50 per user, per year. Existing Google Apps Standard Free users will still be free until further notice.

This is bad for free hosting users because the free version of Google Apps was the perfect combination for our Free Hosting accounts.

So, what now? Visit the following link with instructions showing there’s still a way to get one Free Google Apps Standard account for a single user. First, sign in to your GMail-Google account. Now, point your web browser to http://appengine.google.com/ and follow on-screen instructions to add your domain and create your custom e-mail account.

An alternative is offered by MicroSoft with Outlook-Windows-Live-Hotmail-MSN accounts. Visit the following link: it explains how to use outlook.com with your own web domain. Sign in to your account and visit domains.live.com to add your domain and create your custom email accounts. You will need to make changes to some of your records (DNS, MX, CNAME, SPF…) and follow provided instructions.
