Free FTP clients
FileZilla is an open source FTP software distributed free of charge under the terms of the GNU General Public License. It can run on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and other operating systems. It is available in several languages. It has a Site Manager which saves your FTP access data to different hosts and accounts. It has a transfer queue so you can resume files, pause ongoing transfers and cancel any item in the queue. You can also configure your transfer speed limits and supports transfer of files larger than 4GB.
WinSCP is an open source free FTP client for Windows that you can use, redistribute and/or modify under the conditions of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation, either version 3 of the License, or any later version. Its main function is to transfer files between your local computer and a remote server. WinSCP offers two different user interfaces: Commander and Explorer. It can store your session information such as paths, host names, usernames, passwords, etc, and integrates pretty well with Windows. It has translations for many languages and integrated text editor.
Core FTP LE – free version
Core FTP LE ‘Lite Edition’ is a fast, reliable and free FTP -Windows only- client for unlimited personal, educational, and evaluation use. Important: commercial and business use of Core FTP Lite is also free (as of version 1.1d) under terms specified in the help file. It offers: browser integration, desktop shortcuts, site to site file transfers, file transfer resume, drag and drop support, file editing and viewing, file permissions (CHMOD), file masking with wildcards and much, much more!
Cyberduck is a free libre open source FTP and cloud storage browser for Mac and Windows released under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or any later version. A few features: integration with your favorite text editor software, easy to use interface with drag and drop gestures, synchronization of local with remote directories or vice versa, multi-language support.
Other free FTP solutions
FireFTP is a free, cross-platform FTP client for Mozilla Firefox which provides easy and intuitive access to FTP servers. It is an add-on for Firefox web browser and can run on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Available in many languages, featuring: drag and drop capabilities, multiple character encoding support, resuming of paused transfers, automatic reconnection, IPv6 support and more.
HTML-Kit is a web code editor that can help you edit, preview, validate, publish and manage web projects. It includes an FTP interface so you can easily open, edit and upload files in remote web severs just by dragging and dropping. You can set up multiple FTP workspaces and preview web pages on remote servers.
Online File Manager
If you cannot install programs in your computer or device, you can find a web based FTP solution inside your control panel. Log in to your control panel and click in Online File Manager. You can upload, download, create, rename, delete, edit, change permissions (chmod), copy and cut your files with this web tool. The only downside is that Online File Manager may not work correctly when too many users are connected simultaneously.
